Relief is in sight for hard-pressed Eastbourne commuters following heavy pressure on Southern from local Lib Dems. The town's parliamentary spokesman, Stephen Lloyd, has been in a series of meetings with next door Lewes MP Norman Baker, the party's Shadow Transport Secretary, to ensure Eastbourne's voice is heard where it matters - at the top of the Department for Transport and the top of Southern.

Health & Safety - Taking a stand

Every Christmas Day for many years the Eastbourne Silver Band has played a free concert at the Bandstand. This year was no exception and the traditional event was packed with revellers. A regular highlight, for many years, has been for local children to be invited onto the stage to sing Away in a Manger. As the children lined up with their parents by the side of the stage the Bandmaster announced that, due to Health and Safety, the children were not going to be allowed up to sing.

Liberal Democratic Party Leader Nick Clegg Takes Time out to raise funds for Thank The Forces Charity!

On Wednesday the 2nd December 2009 Liberal Democratic Party leader Nick Clegg visited Eastbourne and took time out of his busy schedule to show his support for a local Charity called Thank The Forces.

Pensioner ready to go to court against East Sussex County Council

Mrs Lee from The Rising in Langney is not backing down in her fight against East Sussex County Council who are threatening to take her to Court. County Hall claim Mrs Lee owes them £225 from the home-care services she has been receiving. Her and her son Barry Lee have been very dissatisfied with the level of care Social Services has been providing for a number of years.

Eastbourne Woman's case taken to Westminster

Mrs Gillian Mackenzie of Kings Drive, Eastbourne, presented her case of alleged medical malpractice to Lib Dem Shadow Secretary of State for Health Norman Lamb MP, at Parliament this week. The meeting was organised by Stephen Lloyd to enable Mrs Mackenzie, other victims families affected and their lawyer John White to put their case to Mr Lamb, the reasons why they believe things had gone badly wrong in the past at Gosport Memorial Hospital.

The Rt Hon Lord Ashdown KBE Supports Local Charity Thank The Forces

On Tuesday the 13th October 2009 The Rt Hon Lord Paddy Ashdown KBE took time out of his very busy schedule to meet and chat with local Charity worker Sue Smith. Sue is the Founder and Chair of Trustees for Thank The Forces Charity that is based on Polegate.
