Stephen Lloyd and Eastbourne Liberal Democrats - working hard all year round

Stephen Lloyd - local choice, local champion

Stephen Lloyd and Eastbourne Lib Dem team

Local campaigner Stephen Lloyd is the Lib Dem Parliamentary Spokesman for the Eastbourne & Willingdon area.

Stephen lives in Old Town at the very heart of Eastbourne and is involved with many local community organisations.

He is a school governor at Ocklynge School, a Trustee of local deaf-support charity LINK, a member of the Eastbourne Society, the Friends of the Towner and the Devonshire & Hippodrome theatres. Stephen's close involvement in the community means that he understands the needs of local people because he shares them every day.

Campaigning for a better deal for local people

Stephen has led many high-profile campaigns around our area.

Having been a key figure in getting the Hampden Park Post Office re-opened, Stephen has also led the recent fight against further Labour Post Office closures. Stephen also worked with the Sovereign Harbour Residents Association to successfully see-off a plan to open a B&Q Megastore in the North Harbour.

With an uncle, Grandfather and Great Grandfather who were all serving police officers, Stephen has also been a strong campaigner for tougher, practical action on crime and anti-social behaviour around the Eastbourne area.

Working with local Lib Dem councillors and campaigners, Stephen is currently leading the campaign against the Conservatives' unpopular 'pay to park' scheme and has also launched a campaign to stop the Conservative-run County Council wasting millions of pounds of our money. He is also working with residents and small shop owners to stop Tesco from opening a store in Meads.

Stephen has been involved in numerous campaigns to save the NHS from Labour's savage cuts and wants see improvments to local health services for Eastbourne residents. He and other local Lib Dem campaigners are working closely with the independent 'Save the DGH' campaign, to keep vital hospital services here in Eastbourne.

Winning for Eastbourne & Willingdon

Eastbourne & Willingdon is one of the most marginal constituencies in the country.

At the last General Election, Stephen Lloyd halved the Conservative MP's majority to just 1,124 votes. With boundary changes locally, the Conservative's will only have a wafer-thin majority of 755 votes* going into the next election.

"A leading figure" - Nick Clegg

Nick Clegg MP, Leader of the Liberal Democrats said: "Stephen was an exceptional campaigner and candidate at the last General Election and came very close to winning. He is a leading figure within the Lib Dems nationally and I look forward to him joining me in Parliament after the next General Election."

The best choice for our next MP

Stephen was born and brought up in the coastal city of Mombasa, Kenya. It was here Stephen first understood the idea of 'fairness' and has campaigned ever since for a better deal for other people. From the age of eight, Stephen was educated in the UK.

For many years, Stephen was the Business Development Director of a top £250 million business-improvement company called Grass Roots. Then in 2005 Stephen started working freelance, allowing him to concentrate on his campaigning work around Eastbourne.

With a strong background in business development, Stephen knows how to get things done. He has also worked with top companies and organisations, including the United Nations Environment Protection Finance Initiative and the Federation of Small Businesses.

With a strong track record of standing up for local residents and getting things done, many Eastbourne and Willingdon residents believe Stephen is the best person to be our next MP.

With Labour out of the race, the choice at the next General Election in Eastbourne will be between popular local campaigner Stephen Lloyd and the Conservative. Many Labour and Green supporters are switching to back Stephen and the Lib Dem team.
