Stephen Lloyd at Park College

Local parents have expressed their concern over the ongoing dispute between teachers and senior managers at Park College.

Teachers at the popular sixth form college, which has become part of Sussex Downs, are totally against management plans to bring in new A Level teachers on lower pay than current staff. They are also against plans to move some College departments to a different site at the Sussex Downs campus.

Stephen Lloyd said, "I am very anxious about the changes being pushed through by the management at Sussex Downs. Many teachers, parents and local residents have contacted me, expressing concern that academic standards in the future may slip as a result of these changes."

"If you have new teaching staff employed on substantially lower salaries, it's clear than standards could slip. Only recently a concerned parent called me, worried about the prospects for her daughter who wants to go on to University. Parents need to feel 100% certain the changes at Park College are in the best interests of the students who go there."

Call for public meeting

"That's why I am calling on Sussex Downs Corporation's Chief Executive, Dr. John Blake, to hold a public meeting as soon as possible, so that local people can put these issues directly to him and his Board of Governors."

If you support my call for a public meeting, please sign our petition today.
