Stop raw sewage releases

Despite a national outcry, sewage companies – Southern Water locally – have continued to spew raw sewage into the sea along Eastbourne’s pristine beaches. This must stop! Southern Water bosses continue to earn eye-watering bonuses while dumping at sea continues. This seems to happen every time there is a rain deluge.

Locally, Conservative councillors refused to support Lib Dem calls for a sewage tax on polluting water companies.

Josh Babarinde, Parliamentary Spokesperson for the Liberal Democrats in Eastbourne said, “it’s high time that bonuses are banned for water bosses until the dumping stops and water companies invest that money in updating processing facilities”.
