A petition to stop the overdevelopment of our green spaces across Wealden, including the site adjacent to Eastbourne off Pennine Way, is gathering momentum.
It follows Wealden District Council giving planning permission for building on sites all around the Stone Cross area.
There is inadequate infrastructure in place (road improvements, health and education and an increased threat of flooding as a result of poor drainage and the uncertainties of climate change) to cope with these developments. Wealden District has already approved hundreds of houses.
Cllr Harun Miah said, “ It is time to call a halt.”
Cllr Alan Shuttleworth added, “Make your voices count. Government are trying to change the planning system to give developers more power, and local people’s democratic rights will be disregarded.”
Wealden District Council must listen to the people, and protect our countryside.
